Hi everyone,
I joined this program in Queens College called Mizrachi LEAD. It is a program that unites Mizrachi students on campus and build within them leadership qualities along with Jewish values.
Queens College is home to 16,000 students and 4,000 of them are Jewish Additionally, QC is home to 1,000 Bukharian Jews, 350 Persian Jews and hundreds of Jewish students from Israel, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, and Georgia.
Through our work with Mizrahi students, we have noticed a trend. They are entrepreneurial-minded, eager to connect with like-minded students, and excited to network with professionals of major corporations. This is exactly why we started the Mizrahi LEAD project. Our goal is to cultivate and nurture Mizrahi Jewish students, who are committed to the Jewish community on the college campus and beyond while building their social capacity and careers.
While participating in Mizrahi LEAD, a year-long leadership program, students have the opportunity to get mentorship, learn from their peers, and from successful innovators and entrepreneurs.
Mizrahi LEAD participants learned from:
- Mitchell Modell, CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods
- Melissa Ben-Ishay, Co-Founder of Baked by Melissa
- Yair Goldfinger, Co-Founder, and CEO of APPCard
- Seth Goldman, Co-Founder of Honest Tea
- Alon Livshitz, CEO at Essence Intelligence
- David Mavashev, CEO & Founder of Nastel Technologies
Mizrahi LEAD enables Mizrahi Jewish students to explore their common history and Jewish identity, examine styles of leadership and community organizing, and participate in a one of a kind Jewish philanthropy project. By the end of the year, the students will have learned about varying leadership styles and ideas, and ultimately discover their own path to leadership. We have a small window of the opportunity to have a massive impact. You can be part of this process.
We need your help.
